Please join us for this final week of practice before the JV West meet this Saturday, April 27, at Thousand Oaks High School. As a reminder, ALL athletes are eligible to compete in the JV Meet this week unless your athlete secured a spot in the Varsity meet. After this week, most athletes will have completed their season and will no longer have practice, but we look forward to celebrating a great season with them at the annual team picnic on Sunday, May 19, at noon at Buena High School Quad.
Please read more about the upcoming meets below. If you have more questions, please reach out to your athlete’s coach.
JV West — April 27 at Thousand Oaks High School
2323 N Moorpark Rd
Thousand Oaks, CA 91360
The JV finals are open to almost all athletes. To participate in an event in the JV finals, the athlete needs to:
1) have participated in that event at least once during the regular season (except for relays; an athlete need not have competed in a relay during the regular season to compete in a relay at JV.)
2) have NOT qualified for that event in the Varsity Finals. If an athlete qualifies for an event at the Varsity Finals, they can NOT participate in that event at the JV finals. Also, the same event limit applies (maximum of 4 events – a maximum of 3 running events plus one field event).
Varsity Finals — May 4 at Camarillo High School
4660 Mission Oaks Blvd,
Camarillo, CA 93012
Beginning April 29th, only Varsity athletes will continue practicing. For each event in each age/gender group, the top athletes in the conference qualify for the Varsity meet. For sprints and field events (100m, 200m, 400m, long jump, high jump, and shot put), the top 9 athletes qualify. For the distance events (800, 1600, and 3200), the top 12 athletes qualify. If there is a tie for the last slot, they look at the athletes’ next best mark. You cannot qualify for Varsity at the JV meet.
Athletic.net keeps track of the conference’s top athletes. Although the links below do not include all teams from Week #6, they can give you an idea of the results needed to qualify for Varsity. These links will update as the remaining teams post their results.

VCYTC/SCYTFC Super Varsity — May 11 at Royal High School
1402 Royal Ave, Simi Valley
Super Varsity is a championship meet between our league (VCYTC) and a neighboring league (SYTFC). Qualification at Super Varisty is based on the results from the Varsity Finals. For laned events and field events, the top 4 athletes from VCYTC and the top 4 SCYTFC qualify. For non-laned running events, the top 8 from each conference qualify. If an athlete is not available to participate, they will take the next best athlete.
Athletes who qualify for Super Varsity or are part of the relay team at Super Varsity will continue to practice during the Week of May 6th. Our relay teams must commit to practice and competing in the meets to avoid having to scratch the day of the meet.
