Great first day of practice! All of us coaches really appreciated all of the hard work and positive attitudes. We’re looking forward to seeing what everyone is going to accomplish this season.
Speaking of accomplishing things, please remember your homework.
Goal Sheets – Each of you should have received a goal sheet to be filled out. If not, you will see the goal sheet on the 13-14 and 15-16 team page on our website. Please turn them in as soon as you can. For returning athletes, you should have an idea of what kind of goals you want to accomplish. Make sure you have specific performance goals (times, distances, etc). If you are new and maybe don’t really know what times are good goals, think about things like trying new events, making all of the Wednesday workouts, etc. For all athletes, think about what you want from Tigres besides performing well. Do you want to make new friends, be a better leader, etc.? If you don’t have any ideas, all of us coaches are happy to talk with you and help you figure out some goals.
Training Plan – You will also see the training plan on the website. Please begin to familiarize yourself with it. If you are a returning athlete, you should understand most of the terms and what the workouts mean. For new athletes, watch the videos that show the different drill and strength routines. The terms and workouts will begin to make sense as the season goes on. It would be great if all the athletes know what the workout of the day is before coming to practice.
