Ventura Tigres is part of the Ventura County Youth Track Conference (VCYTC). Click here to view the VCYTC website. Before the 2025 season three new track clubs joined VCYTC, which resulted in a nearly 25% increase in the total number of athletes in the conference. Due to this change the rules for the postseason were modified during the 2025 season. The conference did their best to balance competition, participation, and meet size/logistics. Thank you for your understanding.

Please read carefully to determine where your athlete will fit into the conference postseason. For an athlete to compete in an individual event during the post season meets (JV and Varsity), they must have competed in it during the regular season. If you have any specific questions, please contact your respective team head coach.

This Saturday’s meet on April 25 at Newbury Park High School is the FINAL meet where athletes can earn Baton awards (Gold or Platinum).

The postseason consists of two different meets:

JV West on May 2 at Thousand Oaks School

and

Varsity on May 9 at Buena High School.

Here are the rules that govern who will participate in each meet.

Varsity Meet – May 9

How to qualify:

    1. For laned events (100m, 200m, 400m, hurdles), you must achieve a top 9 time in the conference.
      • For non-laned events (800m+), you must achieve a top 16 time in the conference.
      • For field events (SP, HJ, LJ), you must achieve a top 12 mark in the conference. All tie marks will also qualify.
      • For relays each team must achieve a top 9 time in the conference. The 4 athletes with the qualifying time do not need to be the same team that runs the relay at Varsity. The head coaches will determine the final team for varsity.
    2. Event limits are the same as the regular season. For 8U, 10U, 12U, and 14U it’s 4 events, with a maximum of 3 running events. For 16U+ it’s a maximum of any 4 events. The 4×400 is free for all divisions and does not count toward your event limit.
    3. If you qualify for varsity in a single, individual event you have the option of forgoing the Varsity meet entirely and competing at JV instead, excluding the event you qualified for. You must make this declaration within 48 hours of the qualifiers being posted. Please contact your division head coach about this request.
    4. An athlete that has not qualified in any individual Varsity events can compete on a Varsity relay team as long as the athlete does not compete in the same relay at the JV meet.
    5. If an athlete qualifies for Varsity in only one individual event, and decides to forgo participating in the event at Varsity in order to participate at the JV meet, the athlete may not compete in that Varsity-qualified event at the JV meet.

All qualifying marks must be achieved at a regular season conference meet. In the event of a tie in a running event the next best mark will determine who qualifies. This Saturday’s meet on April 25 at Newbury Park High School is the last meet where an athlete can qualify.
