This week, our team travels to Ojai to compete agains the Roadrunners. As usual, we will be having the clipboards at practice on Monday and Wednesday to sign up for events. If you can not make it to either practice, please email the events you would like to sign up for at firstname.lastname@example.org. Athletes are responsible for signing themselves up for their events after practices – this is talked about at the start of every practice.

We would really like our athletes to get out of their comfort zone and try new things, so please encourage this at home.
A few reminders about event sign ups:
Athletes can sign up for a maximum of 4 events, not more than 3 of which can be running events. They can sign up for any combination of running/field events, as long as no more than 3 are running.
The one exception to this rule is the 4 x 400 relay. That is a free event, allowing athletes to sign up for a total of 5 events (in this case, up to 4 can be running events). Who doesn’t like something for free?!?!? Give it a shot!!!
There are 2 events that require clearance to participate in at meets – High Jump and Hurdles.
For High Jump, athletes must be able to clear opening height in practice before they are allowed to participate in meets. For Midget boys and girls, that height is 3’6″. Please be sure to check with the High Jump coaches to see if you are cleared.
For Hurdles, please check with Coach Joy or Coach Ryan to see if you are cleared. They have a checklist of things athletes must be able to do prior to competing in meets. We are most concerned with the safety of the athletes and making sure they can be successful prior to competing.
If you are going to sign up for relays, please be sure to show up and be on time. If you sign up for relays, but for some reason can’t attend, please let us know ASAP. You can email me at email@example.com. Having relay runners no show causes a ton of extra work and added confusion for us coaches on meet days
Also, if you are interested in relays, we highly recommend coming to one of the practices on Tuesdays and/or Fridays. Relays are a team event and your teammates are counting on you to learn how to execute a hand off.
