Good morning Tigres Families –

The Ventura Education Partnership (VEP) is running several academies at Ventura High School this summer.  This year they will host a Long Jump & Sprint academy geared towards 3rd – 6th graders during the week 6/20-6/24 from 9:00am to 1:00pm.  The day camp will focus mainly on proper technique in long jump, sprints, and the 4x100m relay.  Each day will be broken up into 2 sessions on the track with one to two classroom sessions analyzing short video clips.  Throughout the camp kids will learn about elite athletes trying out for the upcoming Olympics, and do other fun games and activities.  The week will end with a mini competition.

Athletes are asked to come ready to run, and bring spikes if they have them (although spikes are not mandatory).

The academy is $195 and is only open to the first 30 kids entering 3rd to 6th grade.  It is run by Preston Biller, who has 20 years’ experience coaching and competing in sprints and jumps.

Sign up at http://www.venturaeducationpartnership.org/SEA and if the camp is full there are many other academies that are offered.
