YOUTH/INTERMEDIATE – Camarillo Meet Recap and This Week
Another great week of practice and guess what…ANOTHER GREAT WEEK OF PERFORMANCES!!! The athletes have been working so hard over the past few weeks and the PR’s continue to pile up. It was truly amazing to see how hard all of our athletes competed on Saturday. Aside from performances, it looked like a good time was had, especially as the sun went down and the lights came on. The 4×400’s were awesome! I hope all the parents, families and friends had as good of a time as our team did.
This weekend’s meet is the Conference Finals West at Oxnard High School where we will be competing against Oxnard, Ojai and Newbury Park. There are no qualifications required to participate in this meet, other than athletes can not participate in an event they haven’t done previously this season. We really hope everyone does there best to attend – it is a great meet and a great way to close out the season for many of our athletes.
This is our last week of practice as a full team, so let’s close out with another great week of attendance and hard work. Details will be coming out as the Conference Championship spots are made final and we work as a coaching team to put our relay plans together. Our goal every year is to send as many athletes to the Conference Championships and Co-Conference Championships as possible, so we may be asking for help on the relays from many of our team members. I hope every member of our team will be receptive to playing whatever role they are asked as we do our best to involve as many athletes as we possibly can.
Lastly, at Wednesday’s practice, we will be having a BBQ during the second half of the practice time (around 5:15 or so) after we finish our workouts. We hoping to see everyone there!
I know the Championship season is very confusing with Conference Finals, Conference Championships and Co-Conference Championships. Please see the post on the Tigres homepage for a detailed explanation, but if you have any questions at all, feel free to email youth@venturatigres.org or call/text 650-678-3681.

YOUTH/INTERMEDIATE – Thursday Specialty Practice Canceled
Due to a Buena track meet being rescheduled for tomorrow (Thursday), there will be no specialty practice. We will resume specialty practice on Friday as normally scheduled.
Please do your best to get your workout in on your own according to the workout plan. It would also be great to see as many Tigres out at the track tomorrow supporting the Buena track team!
If you have any questions, please email youth@ventruatigres.org or call/text 650-678-3681.
YOUTH/INTERMEDIATE – Picture day is Today!!!!
Just a reminder that picture day is today! The Y/I team will be taking our pictures at the start of practice so please do your best to be on time. Also, remember to wear your Tigres uniform and avoid anything that isn’t black or white (shorts, t-shirts, hats, etc).
YOUTH/INTERMEDIATE – Picture Day on Wednesday!!! (Please bring uniform)
Our team picture will be taken on Wednesday during practice. Please be sure all athletes wear their uniform. Also, please be sure to wear black shorts and if an athlete would like to wear a shirt under their uniform top, please be sure it is either black or white – please avoid wearing other colors.

YOUTH/INTERMEDIATE – Ojai Meet Recap and Next Week
As the season goes on, PR’s are tougher and tougher to come by. On Saturday, there were 177 individual attempts by our athletes and a whopping 47% resulted in a PR!!! In fact, we had a few athletes that PR’d in every event they attempted! It might not be a coincidence that all of those great performances happened to follow our best week of practice in a LONG time, with great attendance and really solid efforts in the workouts. Let’s keep the momentum going and make this week even better.
We’re really looking forward to a great meet this weekend with a very competitive club coming to Buena and the meet taking place in the evening (3:00 start time). There will be a post coming up shortly that describes the Championship meet schedule, but this is our last dual meet, so it’s a last chance to earn spots in the Conference Championship meet and the last chance to try a new event. Let’s make Saturday a great meet by laying the foundation with a great week of practice, with as many athletes attending as many practices as possible. We are especially looking forward to a great 4×400 from the Y/I team (our goal is 4 boy’s teams and 4 girl’s teams) under the lights!!!
YOUTH/INTERMEDIATE – Tomorrow’s (Thursday) specialty practice is canceled
Due to a track meet being hosted at Buena High School tomorrow, specialty practice will be canceled. We will be back to our normal schedule for Friday’s specialty practice. It would be great if distance runners could get in a run and sprinters could do some speed development (see the training plan for details).
Hope to see a big crowd at specialty practice on Friday!
