Bantams – Specialty Practice Cancelled and Meet Sign Ups

Hello Parents –

Due to a track meet at Buena, specialty practice is cancelled today.

Also, if your athlete has not signed up for Saturday’s meet and plans to participate, please send me their meet signups by this evening.

Thank you!

Coach Kevin

Bantam Reminders

Hello –

Just a reminder that today is picture day – please make sure your athlete it wearing their Tigres uniform.  If they wish to wear an undershirt, please make sure it is either black or white.

Event Sign Up sheets for this weekend’s meet with Camarillo will be available at practice today.  If your athlete is not at practice or was not able to sign up, you can email or text me with their events.

Please take a look at the Final Season Meets information on the Tigres website.  Hopefully this explains the Conference Finals, Conference Championships, and the Co Conference Championship Meets.  I will be notifying those athletes that have either qualified for, or are close to qualifying for, the Conference Championships.  Please contact me with any questions about your athlete’s standing for these finals meets.

Thank you!

Kevin (797-5774, bantams@venturatigres.org)

Bantams – Wednesday is Picture Day!

Hello Parents –

Just a reminder that this Wednesday, 4/18, is Picture Day!  Please make sure your athlete comes to practice in their Tigres uniform.  Please send a change of clothes if they wish to practice in something other than their uniform after pictures.

Bantams – Meet Sign Ups

Hello Parents –

Just a friendly reminder about this weekend’s meet – if your athlete hasn’t signed up yet and plans to compete Saturday (or if you’re not sure what he/she signed up for…), please email or text me by this evening.

We host the Ojai Roadrunners at Buena.  The meet starts at 8:30AM.  If your athlete signed up for the 4×1 relay, please make sure they are on the field by 8:15.

Looking forward to another great meet day!

Bantams – Upcoming Week

Hello Parents –

First of all, what a great weekend of competition from all of our athletes that participated in the Youth Invitational Meet this past weekend.  Each year this meet has brought out the best in our athletes and this weekend was no different.  Many personal records were set, and a good number of the athletes were able to get on the podium!

We will be hosting the Ojai Roadrunners this upcoming weekend.  Meet sign ups will be available at practices today and Wednesday.  If your athlete has been considering trying a new event, this meet or the following meet would be the time to try it – athletes cannot try a new event at the Conference Finals (more on this meet, and the VCYTC championships later).

There are only two regular season meets left in the season.  If you’d like to see where your athlete ranks in their events, check out the VCYTC Top 20 Rankings by going to the Meet Results page on the Tigres website, then click on the corresponding age category under “2018 VCYTC Top Marks”.

It’s been a great season so far!  We can’t wait to watch your athletes hit the track again this weekend!

Bantams – So Cal Youth Invitational Meet

Hello Parents –

Just a few reminders for those that are competing in the Invitational Meet tomorrow and Sunday in Santa Clarita:

  • Meet starts at 8:30 but the first events are ones in which Bantams athletes do not compete (3200 and hurdles), so no need to be there at 8;30.
  • See the attached schedule of events to help gauge your arrival time – but please be conservative so your athlete has ample time to get warmed up and into staging (https://www.venturatigres.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/9th-socal-youth-invite.pdf)
  • Note the open pit times for long jump, high jump, and shot put.  Athletes must start and finish those events in the prescribed times.
  • There are no event stickers for this meet.
  • Athletes must listen for event calls, get on the field and warmed up, and into staging when called.  Their names will be called in staging so they need to pay attention to be placed correctly.
  • Contact any of the Tigre coaches at the orange Tigre tents with any questions or guidance for this weekend.
  • Have a great time!

As always, contact me with any questions or concerns (805-797-5774)

Coach Kevin

Bantams – Invitational Meet Sign-Ups

Hello Parents –

Just a reminder that we will need to have meet sign-ups for this meet by this evening after practice.  Please be sure to email me (there is not an event sign-up sheet at practice) as soon as possible.  Please don’t hesitate to contact me (bantams@venturatigres.org) with any questions at all!

Coach Kevin

PS – I am currently out of town but have access to email.

Bantam Meet Recap and Invitational Sign Ups

Hello Parents –

Another great day of competition from your Bantam athletes! Outstanding effort from everyone and many new personal records! I hope you had a great time watching them race, jump and throw today.

Yes, we will be practicing this week (spring break).  Some coaches will be gone but others will be there.  Specialty practices will continue as well unless otherwise noted.

Please remember to email me your athletes sign-ups for next weekend’s Invitational Meet by Wednesday.  This is a pre-seeded meet so there are no late adds.

I hope everyone enjoys their Spring Break!

Coach Kevin (bantams@venturatigres.org).

Bantams – Thousand Oaks Meet Sign-Ups

Hello Parents –

Just a reminder that if your athlete has not yet signed up for Saturday’s meet with Thousand Oaks, please email me with their events by tonight.

This meet will be at Westlake High School, and is scheduled to start at 1:00PM.  If your athlete has signed up for the 4×100 relay please have them arrive by 12:30PM.

Thank you!  Looking forward to another great meet day!

Coach Kevin (797-5774; bantams@venturatigres.org)

Bantams – Southern California Youth Invitational Track Meet

Hello Parents!

The Southern California Youth Invitational Track Meet is quickly approaching (Saturday, April 7th and Sunday, April 8th).  This is a two day meet where your athletes are able to compete with athletes from our conference (Ventura County Youth Track and Field) and our neighboring conference (Southern California Youth Track and Field).   This is some pretty good competition at a well-run track meet taking place at a great venue (College of the Canyons) in Santa Clarita.  I hope as many of our athletes as possible are able to take advantage of this opportunity! Here’s some helpful information:

  • Events span two days, with separate days for each events.  Some events can span both days, such as the 100m and the 4x100m relay.
  • See attached flyer for specifics regarding which events take place on which days.
  • Athletes may compete in up to two individual events (track and field) plus one relay, or one individual event plus two relays.  Over-eventing will result in disqualification for all of that athlete’s events.
  • Athletes must have their event sign-ups in no later than Wednesday, April 4th.  This is a pre-seeded meet (which is one reason why it runs so smooth), so there are no late sign-ups.  No exceptions!
  • Coaches are not allowed on the field – athletes must listen for the calls, get on the field & warmed up, and into staging themselves.

Please take a look at the flyer for more information.  Contact me with any questions (bantams@venturatigres.org; 805-797-5774).  I will start taking sign-ups via email after this weekend’s meet.

Hope to see you there!

Coach Kevin
